Witch Finger Cookies
Ready to start brewing creepy things in your kitchen? These severed witch fingered cookies might be disturbing but are utterly delicious!
Note: *No witches were harmed during this recipe* 😛
Makes: 60 cookies
Time required: 75 minutes
Ingredients:
1 tube of red decorating gel
1 cup powdered sugar
¾ cup whole almonds
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp almond extract
An egg
1 cup softened butter
Directions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine vanilla and almond extract along with egg, sugar and butter. Beat together until combined before adding salt, baking powder and flour. Beat again until smooth. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 165°C. Grease the baking trays.
- Remove the dough and scoop a teaspoon of the dough onto the waxed paper. Roll out the dough into a finger-shaped cookie. Place the almond at the end to appear like a fingernail. Squeeze the cookies near the tips and center to appear like knuckles. Once done, arrange all the cookies onto the baking trays.
- Continue to bake for 25 minutes or until lightly golden (resembling a human finger).
- Remove the almonds from the cookies. Squeeze a tiny amount of decorating gel on it before pressing the almond back in its place. The excess gel coming dripping onto the side should look like blood.
Tip: You can also use a brush to paint the almonds with the gel to make it look gorier.
Coffin Cake
This dessert will leave you speechless (quite literally)!
Makes: 1
Time required: 120 minutes
Ingredients:
Black gel food colour
1 can of dark chocolate frosting
Canola oil
¾ cup buttermilk
4 large eggs
1 box red velvet cake mix
To decorate:
30 red liquorice candy
Halloween white bone sprinkles (optional)
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 325°F. Spray baking spray on a 9x5x3 inch loaf pan.

- Add this batter into the pan before placing on the baking tray.
- Bake for 70 minutes. Remove from the oven and let it cool.
- Remove the cake and place the rounded side up. Start trimming the rounded top until it starts looking like a coffin. Make sure that you keep the foot of the coffin narrower than the head.
- To make the coffin lid, carefully cut a 1” horizontal layer from the top of this cake. Place the coffin and lid on the separate wire racks on wax papers.
- Add the food colour and chocolate frosting in a bowl and microwave for 15 seconds on high.
- Pour this over the coffin lid and a little on the coffin.
- Arrange the coffin on a serving plate and place the lid so that it appears that the spirit just left the coffin. Using the photo as a guide, decorate the coffin using witch’s fingers, bone sprinkles and candies.
- Refrigerate to set.
