Ingredients

  • A package of tri-folded frozen puff pastry dough or a tube of 8 crescent rolls
  • 8 tsp jam, Nutella, or chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Before starting the cooking process, ensure that the waffle iron is preheated to a moderate temperature.
  • Next, take the puff pastry package. Start unfolding the pastry trifold. While examining for any defects or tears. If any seams are damaged, press them together to form a singular sheet of puff pastry.
  • Proceed to cut the puff pastry into four equal portions.
  • From each of these portions, slice in a diagonally i.e. from one end to the other. It is to create eight triangle-shaped pieces.
  • If utilizing a package of crescent rolls, then spread them out. Ensure that you separate each individual triangle. Take each triangle-shaped puff pastry or crescent roll. And spread Nutella, or your preferred jam, or some chocolate chips on the wider base of the pastry.
  • Roll up the pastry properly i.e. base to tip. And then form a crescent shape. Place the rolled-up pastry crescent onto the preheated waffle iron. Then cook it for 2-3 minutes or till the Croffle achieves a desirable golden brown hue. If necessary, you may take a quick look to check its progress.
  • Once finished, remove the Croffle from your waffle iron. Then sprinkle some powdered sugar over it for added flavour. Serve the Croffle immediately while still hot.
  • Repeat this process with the remaining pastry crescents until all are cooked to perfection.

Notes

  • Use high-quality puff pastry or crescent rolls: The quality can make a huge difference. Choose a reputable brand and make sure it is fresh for the best results.

  • Thaw the pastry dough: If you are using frozen puff pastry, make sure to thaw it. Leaving it out on the counter for a few hours or overnight in the refrigerator is recommended.

  • Roll the dough to the right thickness: Make sure to roll the dough to the correct thickness. If it's too thin, the Croffle will be crispy and hard. If it's too thick, it will be doughy and undercooked.

  • Use the right amount of filling: Do not overfill the Croffle with jam, Nutella, or chocolate chips. It can cause the pastry to break or become too soggy.

  • Preheat your waffle iron: Preheat your waffle iron to medium heat. It is to ensure even cooking and a crispy exterior.

  • Do not overcrowd the waffle iron: Do not cook too many Croffles at once. Overcrowding the waffle iron can result in uneven cooking.

  • Check the Croffle while cooking: Keep an eye on the Croffles while they are cooking. Only to avoid burning or overcooking them.

  • Serve the Croffle immediately: Croffles are best when served hot. Make sure to serve them immediately after cooking.

By following these tips, you can make a delicious and cooked Croffle every time.
